UNION DEMOCRACY ・ WORKPLACE POWER
My name is Matt Bach and I have been teaching history in Andover Public Schools for 25 years. I have a Bachelor's Degree in History from St. Bonaventure University, and a Master’s Degree in the History of Art and Architecture from Harvard University. I have served as the Andover Education Association President since 2019. I am proud to run as the EDU-endorsed candidate for MTA President alongside my friend, Deb Gesualdo.
I’m Deb Gesualdo, a K–8 public school music educator who began my career as an ESP and comes from a family of union educators. I serve as President of the Malden Education Association, where in 2022 our members led a rank-and-file strike for housing justice, paid parental leave, and living wages for ESPs. I am running as the EDU-endorsed candidate for MTA Vice President to build a democratic, member-led union rooted in solidarity and real power, because strong unions and public education are our best tools for resisting fascism, defending democracy, and building collective power for educators, students, and communities.
